Supporting our Economy

Bringing Jobs to Every Town

With the development of Punggol Digital District and Sengkang West, residents from all the towns in the North-East will now have more choices to jobs near homes. A new employment node is also being developed at Lorong Halus.

Lorong Halus Industrial Estate

Lorong Halus will be progressively developed as a Food, Lifestyle and Logistics cluster, next to the upcoming Defu MRT Station on the Cross Island Line. It will be sensitively designed to be pedestrian-centric, with access to waterfront parks and open spaces for workers and nearby residents to enjoy.

Enhancing our Commutes

Growing our Public Transport & Cycling Networks

Residents of the North-East will enjoy shorter and more convenient commutes. With the completion of the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) and Cross Island Line (CRL), the region will be served by 5 MRT lines by 2035. New Integrated Transport Hubs will also provide seamless inter-modal transfers and enhance accessibility to amenities.

We will progressively expand the cycling networks within our towns over the next 10-15 years.

Growth of Public Transport Network and Distribution of Employment Nodes in the North East

Cross Island Line (CRL)

With 2 stations each in Ang Mo Kio, Serangoon and Hougang, residents can enjoy faster commutes across the island for live, work and play!

Ang Mo Kio: A 20-Minute Town within a 45-Minute City

As Singapore’s first model Walking and Cycling town, dedicated cycling paths complement existing footpaths to provide ample space for both pedestrians and cyclists. When completed in 2020, the Lentor and Mayflower MRT Stations on the Thomson-East Coast Line will make Ang Mo Kio even more accessible to the City and the North.

Active Green & Blue Spaces For All

Creating New Recreational Opportunities

Residents will be able to access the wealth of greenery and waterways in the region more easily with new park connectors in future. There will also be new, varied recreational opportunities for all to interact and play together.

North-East Waterways

The promenades along our waterways at Serangoon Reservoir, Punggol Reservoir and My Waterway@Punggol are popular with cyclists and other recreational users. In the future, these waterways will be transformed into active spaces for water activities, connected to recreational nodes such as Punggol Regional Sport Centre, SAFRA Punggol and Anchorvale Community Club.
